CCM Newsletter – April 2017

Last November Sr. Cyrene, MC (the Regional from Italy) wrote a seven-page letter describing Mother’s canonization. Fr. Pascual wishes to share highlights of this letter with us. The Holy Father, Sister wrote, chose to “hold Mother as an icon of mercy … renewing within us the zeal to be channels of his love and mercy to the poorest of the poor.” Following are excerpts of Sr. Cyrene’s letter.

The MC Sisters in Brazil were asked by the organizers to participate in two things, with a Tent of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on a park and an Exhibit on Mother Teresa’s life. I went to help the Sisters with the MC Brothers and the MC Fathers in this event and there were many of our priests from around the world who came with the Youth to participate in this magnificent event.

These were Sr. Nirmala’s last words to us. Born in 1934 in Nepal, she went back to God in Kolkata at 12:05am on June 23. Sister was not keeping well during the Chapter [in March] but her gentle and prayerful presence gave us great support and joy. On April 7th she started to have severe chest pains, which doctors realized was a heart attack. In June she was admitted to the hospital.

In January, I gave retreats to the Sisters in the Philippines and visited mission houses and the Novitiate in Manila. As I usually do during these trips, I tried to visit the priests and the Seminaries, and sometimes they invite me to give talks. So I had the joy of talking about our dearest Mother in the Major and Minor Seminaries of the Archdiocese of Caceres in Naga.

We have received a letter from Cardinal Mauro Piacenza, Secretary of the Congregation for Clergy, informing us that the Congregation has given final approval to the statutes of the Corpus Christi Movement of priests. We are now in the process of preparing an English translation of the Statues and other information which will be made available to you soon. In Cardinal Piacenza’s letter he reminds us of the purpose of the Association [the CCM Movement]
